Magento Covers the Quarter of the e-Commerce Market

To be aware of the current reality and keep pace with the modern tendencies, aheadWorks has researched the popularity of e-Commerce platforms. It’s far from a comprehensive analysis but we hope it’s a good indication of the actual situation at the market. Having studied and compared the results of the recent surveys, we came to some appealing conclusions.

Magento Connect January Statistics

Time flies they say. It is hard to disagree: it seemed not so long time ago that the new 2012 has just started, but the very first month of this “apocalyptical” year is already over. So it is the right time to provide Magento Community with the new Magento Connect statistics. In general, one must admit that the holidays didn’t make any impact on developers’ productivity. Lots of new extensions are ready to meet online marketers’ needs with hundreds of new ones still to come.

In terms of growth, the extensions for Category & Product Page Enhancements (+ 35 in comparison with November and it is the biggest growth ever recorded!), Administration (+18), Automation (+18), and Ease of Use and Images & Media (+16) are the leading ones.

This way, the previous twofold winner – the extensions for the Social & Marketing integration – couldn’t make it for the third time in a row. All these useful tools provide Magento store owners with new tools to improve their stores functionality & usability, and increase their revenue.

aheadWorks also made its valuable contribution to the list and introduced One Click Checkout for Magento (Ease of Use). While you’re enjoying its perfect quality and premium user experience, we are ready to come back in March with the new Magento Connect statistics.

Magento Connect December Statistics

The year 2011 is over but the Magento Connect research conducted by aheadWorks goes on and on. As I stated in my previous post, the year 2011 was highly successful for Magento and Magento Community. Let’s hope the new 2012 will bring even more joyful events to both Magento developers and merchants. And now it’s high time to check the Magento Connect statistics for December.

In terms of growth, the extensions for Social & Marketing integration (+17 in comparison with November), Social (+14), Automation (+18), and Order Management (+10) are the leading ones. This way, the extensions for the Social & Marketing integration are ranking first for the second time in a row. All these useful tools provide Magento store owners with the new tools to improve their stores functionality & usability, and increase their revenue.

In total, the overall number of all the extensions in Magento Connect is 5877.

aheadWorks is looking forward to continue the research and we’ll be back in February 2012 to see the results for the first month of 2012.

As we all know, several changes have been made in Magento Connect on October 13, 2011. Now it has a brand new look, design, search, and navigation. But as they say in Magento Connect promo video, “Magento Connect isn’t new, but it is improved”.

One of the major changes is related to Magento Go. Now the online merchants using this platform can access extensions and customize their stores easier.

Another innovation called Trusted Extensions is the golden standard for premium extensions for both Magento and Magento Go platforms.

In terms of growth, the extensions for Search & Navigation (+34 in comparison with September), Checkout (+29), Content Management (+21), and Customer Service (+19) are the leading ones. These useful tools provide Magento store owners with the new features to improve their stores’ functionality & usability, and increase their revenue.

Magento Connect September Statistics

Here at aheadWorks, we are really glad to see how the Magento community is growing up every month. More and more online marketers choose Magento as the platform for their ecommerce businesses. The numbers below only prove it, so please take a look at our new Magento Connect statistics.

In comparison with the number of 4659 extensions and themes (with 3356 paid and 1303 free ones) in September, the quantity has grown to 4867 (up to 4.4%) by October 1. This number includes 3518 (up to 4.8%) and 1349 (up to 3.5%) paid & free extensions and themes respectively.

Magento Connect August Statistics

Today is September 2 meaning that the hot season of summer is over. But luckily, this nostalgic feeling hasn’t influenced our will to continue the research we started in July. As we promised in our report published on August 9, we return with new Magento Connect statistics.

In comparison with the number of 4534 extensions and themes (with 3262 and 1272 paid and free ones) in July, the quantity has grown to 4659 (up to 2.7%) by September 1. This numeric includes 3356 (up to 2.9%) and 1303 (up to 2.4%) paid & free extensions and themes respectively.

We decided to find out a number of extensions and themes released in August solely. We discovered that the statistics are nearly the same: 149 extensions and 46 themes appeared on Magento Connect on August 1 – August 31, 2011.

This data means that a stable number of new extensions and themes appears monthly providing the Magento community with new opportunities for their online business.

aheadWorks is looking forward to continue the research and we’ll be back in October. Stay tuned!

Magento Connect July Statistics

It is really amazing to see how the Magento community is growing with every passing year. Nowadays, more and more online marketers use Magento for their ecommerce business. According to statistics made by our colleague in Magento promotion Tom Robertshaw in June 2011, Magento is the leading ecommerce platform in the world.

aheadWorks Co. is really proud to be among the people who made it happen and we are looking forward to share our knowledge and experience with everyone in the community. In a role of a leading provider of Magento extensions, we do our best to contribute to Magento universe and turn this platform into a long-term leader in a world of eCommerce.

Thus, as a part of this strategy, we decided to make our own research. Our goal was to find out how many extensions and themes appear at Magento Connect monthly. Although summer seems to be a vocational time of the year, still more and more extensions and themes appear every month.
