Despite a huge number of vendors on Magento Connect, every Magento developer has an opportunity to introduce his or her own extensions. Development is not that difficult after all; but how to stand out from rival players and turn a product into a stable generator of cash flow?

What strategies do leaders embrace and is it possible to take a significant market share away from them? And finally – what’s the risk of copying someone else’s strategies and cloning third party products?

Peter Samoilov_aheadWorksPeter Samoilov, CTO at aheadWorks – “The Struggle for Time: Mechanization of Magento development on the battlefield.

* Why do Magento extension providers need mechanization and how to use it?

* How can one automation save plenty of time to a bunch of folks?

* Continual integration: 1000 and 1 task for CI.

* CI server? Give me 2! Let’s use Remote Agent.

* Selenium? PHPUnit? Implement with caution.

We also have one presentation in reserve. Let’s keep it a secret for a while 😉 As always, we’ll bring flyers with discount coupons on aheadWorks Magento extensions, so don’t miss them.

The Talk With Kuba Zwoliński: “I Can Honestly Say There Are Many Ideas For Online Businesses in Poland”

A world without borders makes it easy to spread the popularity of eCommerce businesses like fire. Just imagine – you can build a website from scratch and start selling novelties on it regardless of where you are from (though, you are dependent on local legislation and Internet connection quality). The same is true for developers: if they specialize in eCommerce development, it automatically means they are demanded throughout the globe.

Seeing how Magento expands further and further, I can’t help thinking of other corners of the world and their possible response to Magento invasion. For this purpose and also to learn how difficult/prestigious/risky it is to build eCommerce businesses in particular countries, we cover them step by step in our blog:

This time I virtually move to Poland to meet Kuba Zwoliński, a founder of Snowdog company (we are glad to have Snowdog as aheadWorks official partner!), Magento eCommerce consultant and organizer of the First Meet Magento Poland. We talk about his acquaintance with Magento, Polish eCommerce in general and the way he worked on Meet Magento PL.

Back from the Netherlands: “Magento Dutch Market Will Grow”

Our guys, Matt Krivoshein and Peter Samoilov, have just returned from the Meet Magento event in the Netherlands. More than 350 Magento enthusiasts gathered together to share ideas, experience and thoughts about the future of Magento project. We were happy to see our partners from Studio Emma, WebShopApps, Atwix and some others.

While Matt was dealing with general questions on how aheadWorks can improve store functionality, Peter, CTO at aheadWorks, was healing Magento merchants and curing their technical problems.

Read what Matt and Peter say about the Meet Magento NL 2013

Matt KrivosheinMATT KRIVOSHEIN, CMO: Unfortunately, there was no Internet available on the first conference day (May 29). However, it didn’t affect us that much. Some of my basic observations:

  • Magento Doctors were the most popular guys during the event;
  • Roy Rubin has disappeared right after his impressive keynote. That’s a pity.
  • Magento team has learned some Dutch words (‘dank u wel means ‘thank you’);
  • Lots of Magento merchants still use CE 1.4;
  • Ede is a very nice town for working – its environment is quiet and peaceful. All attractions are 100 km away – in Amsterdam;

I want to thank Marc Dekkers and Guido Jansen for organizing and taking charge of such an awesome conference, Tom Robertshaw for a well thought presentation, Viacheslav Kravchuk and Karen Baker for keeping us a  good company.

Peter Samoilov

PETER SAMOILOV, CTO: Meet Magento Netherlands seems to become one of the largest events in the EU – it gathers more and more participants every year.

This time I was acting both as a guy at aheadWorks booth and as Magento Doctor at first. I have to say that being such kind of a ‘doctor’ is really exciting: I met real Dutch merchants with their actual Magento problems and helped them out to resolve their issues. A lot of questions were related to performance and store speed, so it’s probably the most troublesome part of Magento.

The only bad thing about being Magento Doctor was that I had no time to attend keynotes at all :).

But if you ask me about my preferences – listening to keynotes or being a doctor and helping merchants – I will choose the second option undoubtedly.

Meet Magento Netherlands: Get Treatment from Magento Doctor Peter Samoilov and Welcome to Our Stand #6

Hey guys, what are you up to in May? If this breezy month is too charming for you to stay home and devote your entire time to work, go pack your stuff and join aheadWorks on the trip to Ede, the Netherlands. On May 29-30 this Dutch city will become a national meeting point for Magento merchants and developers, where we all will have fun, practice active networking and do business at the same time. Yes, Meet Magento Netherlands is coming and we know what might blow your mind.

Hirokazu Nishi about Magento in Japan: “I Recommend Starting a Business on Magento Here, but with Caution”

As time passes by, I become convinced that Magento is very similar to Julius Caesar in its quest to conquer the world. Turned out, this famous Roman emperor took up the reins mostly of European terrains, but Magento, it seems, cherishes plans to gain the whole planet.

When a high popularity of Magento in Europe and both American continents is no longer questioned, Asia is still perceived as a tidbit by rival eCommerce platforms. It’s especially true for a tech tycoon Japan.

Common understanding of Magento state in the Land of the Rising Sun is vague. If you also wonder what’s going on in Japanese Magento market, meet Hirokazu Nishi for a brief talk. Currently he works as CTO at Celtic Corporation (which appears to be aheadWorks Official Partner!) and is in charge of Magento Meetup Tokyo organization.

Hirokazu Nishi

Hirokazu, you provide Magento technical support and extension development service in Japan. How did you get interested in Magento in the first place?

H.N.: At the end of September 2007 I found the article about a new eCommerce software. It was an early version of Magento and I felt it would become a great platform. Then I started using Magento.

What is Meet Magento?

We started organizing Magento events back in 2009. The first Meet Magento took place in Leipzig, Germany with about 270 attendees. Since that, the event has grown steadily and also spread to other countries like the Netherlands, Belarus, Poland and Brazil. Last year all Magento events together reached more than 1,500 attendees.

The target group of the Meet Magento events is the whole Magento ecosystem. It is a platform to bring merchants, developers, agencies and partners together. There is no other event which facilitates such interaction with the whole community. Therefore, Meet Magento is the leading independent community-powered Magento conference.

Meet Magento Poland and How We See It 2 Days Later

We are back from the first Meet Magento Poland! Two days ago I could hardly collect my thoughts about the event – I was overwhelmed with emotions. Now with my excitement settled down, I feel ready to stop and analyze different aspects of the conference, its organization level, communication and Poland in general. So let’s get started!

       Artyom Rabzonov, CEO, and Dmitry Martsinkevich, CFO at aheadWorks

I visited Poland millions of years ago when I was a kid, so basically not many things were left in my mind and I discovered Warsaw for the first time. As soon as we arrived, I was immersed into this bright, shiny and luminous city that was already prepared for Christmas celebration. The early onset of Christmas came with decorated stores, Christmas songs and overall agitation in shopping malls.

Meet Magento Poland: Certificate from aheadWorks, 100 PLN Reward and Reduced Ticket Price

Magento ecosystem expands globally and locally, and despite the awesomeness and high magnitude of MagentoLive UK, it’s time to bring a difference to regions we live in. Rested a bit after London, we are moving to our closest western neighbor and a longtime comrade – Poland. Warsaw will host the first Meet Magento PL, which takes place on November, 23-24 in Hotel Mariott.

This local meetup consists of two days with a business track (general conference), developers track (developers day) and after-party, of course 😉 Attendees will have a chance to listen to best speakers from Magento, PayU, Baobaz, Divante, aheadWorks, Freshmail, MaxROY, Critical, Atwix and others.

Don’t miss a speaker from aheadWorks, Dmitry Martsinkevich, who knows how to find developer contractors of your dream and to choose them properly to keep Magento stores alive. His topic – “Guiding Rules for Choosing Reliable Magento Development Partner” – will be presented November, 23 at 5:05 pm.

Reports from Meet Magento Germany and Bargento 2012

aheadWorks team visits all the major Magento events. Here’s my report about our trip to Leipzig and Paris.

Meet Magento Germany 2012

Artyom Rabzonov, CEO, Petr Samoilov, CTO, and Dmitri Koteshov, Marketing Coordinator, had a pleasure to attend Meet Magento Germany in Leipzig on May 22-23, 2012.

The journey to the heart of Germany started in Minsk National Airport, where we got on a plane to Frankfurt-am-Main. The flight took us about two hours spent on talking, playing chess and having fun. Eventually, in Frankfurt, we found ourselves in a comfortable train to Goethe’s hometown. The travel by land was twice longer comparing to the flight, but the scenery behind the windows was amazing with all the country houses, castles, windmills and meadows.

Leipzig welcomed us by rather hot weather and hordes of cyclists. It took us just several minutes to reach the hotel, leave the luggage and join the pre-party in Westin Hotel where we met our partners from Netresearch and WebShopApps.

We must say that the organization of the conference was pretty much flawless. So thank you guys from Netresearch, you did a fantastic job.
